The butterfly effect, or chaos theory, has always completely fascinated me. The idea that a butterfly flapping its wings in one country could create certain weather conditions in another part of the world is completely amazing. Something as small and seemingly insignificant as a butterfly can make a major impact on the world.
Considering this, I constantly try to remind myself that even small sparkling acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s life: Smiling at a stranger, holding the door open for an elderly couple, tipping the Starbucks barista a little extra than normal, sending a hand-written letter to grandparents, putting extra change in a strangers expired parking meter…you get the idea. Adding this little bit of sparkle to someone else’s day takes very little time, energy, or money but could potentially change their day for the better and set forth a very positive rippling effect in their lives and others. Not to mention what you put out into the world returns to you.
So, sprinkle some sparkle on someone else today. You never know the positive difference it could make!
